UNICEF, Bauchi Humanitarian Ministry to Strengthen Partnership on Social Protection, Humanitarian Policy and Education

The Bauchi Field Office of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has expressed readiness to collaborate with the Bauchi State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management to strengthen social protection, humanitarian policy, education, and sensitization initiatives.

UNICEF Chief of Field Office, Dr. Nuzhat Rafique, made this known on Wednesday 20th August 2025 ,when she received the Commissioner of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Hajiya Hajara Yakubu Wanka, during a courtesy visit to the field office.

Rafique said the partnership would involve technical support, policy alignment, and joint efforts on key humanitarian and social protection objectives.

She described the collaboration as timely and critical in addressing pressing humanitarian challenges, while commending the Bauchi State Government for its efforts in improving the lives of vulnerable populations and supporting humanitarian workers.

In her remarks, Bauchi State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Hajara Yakubu Wanka emphasized the ministry’s commitment to working closely with UNICEF across critical areas of intervention.

She explained that, given the broad mandate of the ministry, partnering with UNICEF would provide an opportunity to leverage on UNICEF vast experience and expertise in humanitarian response and social protection.

She noted that the ministry’s ultimate goal is to build a resilient Bauchi State where the impacts of disasters are mitigated and the dignity and well-being of vulnerable populations are safeguarded.

According to her, government remains committed to protecting children and other groups affected by conflict, displacement, poverty, and disasters, as contained in a press statement by the information officer of the ministry, Adama Ibrahim.
