Alh. Aminu Hammayo is an accomplished financial expert and public administrator born on November 24, 1965, in Misau, Bauchi State, Nigeria. He is married and resides in Bauchi, where he continues to contribute to the development of his community and beyond. With a strong foundation in accounting and finance, Alh. Aminu’s academic achievements include a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Ahmadu Bello University (1986), a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the same institution (2001), and a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) in Accounting and Finance, earned in 2019. Currently, he is pursuing a Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Accounting and Finance at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, underscoring his commitment to continuous learning and academic excellence.
Alh. Aminu holds several professional certifications, reflecting his expertise and leadership in financial management. He is a Fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (2011), the Nigerian Institute of Management (2014), and the Chartered Institute of Forensic Accountants of Nigeria (2021). Additionally, he is an accredited management trainer certified by the National Council for Management Development (2016) and an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (2012). His academic and professional qualifications are complemented by executive training programs from renowned institutions, including the Lagos Business School, Manchester Business School, and the University of Pittsburgh, where he honed his leadership and management skills.
Professionally, Alh. Aminu has an extensive and varied career spanning public service, consulting, and banking. He has served the Bauchi State Government in multiple capacities, including as the Honourable Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning (2021–2023), Secretary to the State Government (2014), and Honourable Commissioner for various ministries, such as Finance and Economic Development, Health and Human Services, Lands and Housing, and Land and Survey between 2007 and 2014. Notably, he also oversaw the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning while serving as Commissioner for Lands and Housing.
Beyond public service, Alh. Aminu’s private sector experience includes senior roles in the banking industry. He worked as an Assistant General Manager at Unity Bank PLC (2006–2007) and Intercity Bank PLC (2004–2006), where he managed key portfolios such as audit, inspection, and regional operations. Earlier in his career, he served with African International Bank Ltd in various capacities, including Operations Manager across multiple branches and as a Credit, Forex, and Cash Officer. Alh. Aminu’s professional journey began as an Accountant II at the Bauchi State Ministry of Finance Treasury Division in 1988.
In addition to his executive roles, Alh. Aminu served as Director and Management Consultant at SKM-3 Consulting Services Limited from 2015 to 2021, where he provided training and consultancy services to businesses and organizations. His vast experience in both public and private sectors underscores his expertise in financial management, strategic planning, and organizational leadership.
