H/E Rt. Hon. Mohammed Auwal Jatau  is a seasoned professional and public servant, born on January 1, 1968, in Sakwa in Zaki Local Government – Bauchi State, Nigeria.   H/E  Auwal Jatau is a dedicated family man, married with seven children. His commitment to family and community underscores his approach to leadership and service.

H/E Jatau’s academic journey reflects his dedication to learning and self-improvement. He earned a Master’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy from Baze University, Abuja, in 2022. Prior to that, he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Education Health from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (Alvan Campus), between 2012 and 2015. His professional foundation is rooted in healthcare, with a Diploma in Nursing Education from The Polytechnic, Calabar (1997–1999) and a Certificate in General Nursing from the School of Nursing, Bauchi (1992–1995). Mohammed began his academic pursuits at Sandi Galau Primary School (1974–1980) and later earned his Grade II Certificate from Government Teachers College, Sakwa (1982–1987).

Professionally, H/E Mohammed has demonstrated versatility and commitment across various roles. He served as a Nurse Educator at the School of Nursing Education, Bauchi, from 1999 to 2003, and as a Nurse Clinician at Bauchi and Katagum General Hospitals from 1995 to 1997. These roles laid the groundwork for his subsequent contributions in leadership and governance.

Rt. Hon. Mohammed Auwal Jatau’s political career is marked by significant achievements and positions of influence. He served as Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly in 2003 and later as Minority Leader from 2007 to 2011. His contributions extended to the federal level, where he was a Member of the House of Representatives during the periods 2011–2015 and 2020–2023. In 2015, he emerged as the PDP Gubernatorial Candidate for Bauchi State, demonstrating his commitment to progressive leadership. Mohammed also held the position of Commissioner for Health in Bauchi State in 2019, where he spearheaded impactful health initiatives.

In addition to his legislative roles, Mohammed has served on several key committees in the House of Representatives, including Public Account, FCT, Legislative Budget and Research, Petroleum Downstream, Youth and Sports, and Police Affairs. His leadership skills were also evident during his tenure as Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Public Account.

His commitment to community and institutional development is evident through the various positions he has held. As Chairman of the ICRC Branch from 2012 to 2015, he championed community-driven initiatives. Earlier in his career, he served as Electoral Chairman of the Student Union at the School of Nursing Education in 1994 and Head Boy of Government Teacher’s College, Sakwa.

His political philosophy centers on servant leadership, transparency, accountability, and inclusivity. Mohammed is dedicated to fostering sustainable development, adhering to the rule of law, and promoting education and infrastructure development.
